If these fans failed, there was a major stoppage, losses, rushing, nerves. That’s why they had already “switched to preventive” some time ago. But, as you know, preventive maintenance has significant associated costs if the MTBF is short.
Going into the subject, Rafael one day received a proposal from an engineering company. He was told that this engineering company did things differently, innovation, 3D printing, digitization of parts…
It all sounded like Greek to him and he discarded them. He did not have the mettle for experiments.
But that engineering was not discarded, because that engineering foresaw the future and, in that future, it saw Rafael and his colleagues with an imminent big problem, but it also saw another future that was much more promising.
So engineering insisted, this time face to face and there, Rafael understood that these people not only did not come from Mars but spoke his language perfectly, and that they were offering him nothing but a lasting solution.
That engineering (Surprise!) was Drukatt, who made that same one-meter fan from a 3D printed mold then cast it in brass, machined it, attached it to the hub, balanced it and delivered it.
Result: the equipment has not failed yet and has not caused any maintenance downtime.
And Rafael and his colleagues have other problems, but not that one.
