KPI: Obsolescence
One fine day, one fine morning, bang, alarm bells: an overheating in the bearings of the 95XP3.1 engine had cracked the rear cover of an electric motor. Nerves.
Problems.
That morning, Manuel, in addition to having to review all the work orders, attend useless meetings and listen to the retirement wishes of his colleague Jesús, had another problem.
Call to the manufacturer and dreaded response: obsolete part.
And obsolete part means replacement of all equipment. And equipment replacement means bureaucracy, permits, studies, budget comparisons, meetings, delays, costs.
Always costs.
And then, months later, they bring the equipment, it doesn’t fit on the bench and they have to spend 10,000€ more. At this moment, Manuel understands his colleague Jesús and wonders when he will retire.
But that morning, Manuel did not want to think that the only solution was to replace. There had to be another way.
Looking for it, he came across this website and called us asking, with very little faith, almost none, if we could manufacture a discontinued engine cover.
Imagine his face when we simply asked him to pass on the legal requirements (we sensed them), and leave everything in our hands.
What did we do?
Of course, for Drukatt, such a replacement was not only technically feasible but also represented a 60% savings over his plan A (buy and install another piece of equipment).
That day could have been one of the worst of the year for Manuel, but it was not.
Simple: we produced the digital spare part, manufactured the part in a hybrid casting process in the same original material, and supplied it to him with all the documentation required by the plant. In addition, he could rest easy knowing that if this happened to any of the other three engines in service, part of the job was done.
